Legal & Trust
innerED ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of every student and family who uses our app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have — especially as a parent or guardian of a minor.
Contents
innerED is an iPad-first executive function coaching application for students in grades 6–8, operated by innerED Network ("Company"). Our app helps students break down tasks into manageable steps while giving parents non-intrusive visibility into their child's progress.
Our primary contact for privacy matters is listed at the end of this document.
We collect only what is necessary to operate the app. The table below describes each category:
| Data type | Examples | Who it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Parent email address, parent name | Parents / guardians |
| Student profile | First name, grade level, 6-digit code, 4-digit PIN | Students |
| Task data | Task titles, due dates, step completions, subject tags | Students |
| AI interaction data | Task descriptions submitted for AI breakdown | Students |
| Usage data | App session info, feature usage patterns | All users |
| Device data | iOS version, device model, crash logs | All users |
No student email addresses are collected. Students log in using a 6-digit code and 4-digit PIN only — no email, no social login, no personal identifiers beyond a first name.
We use collected data for the following purposes only:
We do not use student data to train AI models. We do not serve advertisements. We do not sell any user data to third parties — ever.
innerED uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase (Google) | Authentication, database, hosting | Account data, task data, usage data |
| OpenAI | AI task breakdown generation | Task descriptions only (no student identifiers) |
| Apple App Store | App distribution, subscription billing | Subscription status (managed by Apple) |
Task content sent to OpenAI is not linked to any student identifier. We do not send names, PINs, or any personally identifiable student information to OpenAI.
innerED is designed for students in grades 6–8, which includes children under 13. We take our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously.
Parental consent: A parent or guardian must create the account and set up the student profile. By creating an account on behalf of a minor, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian and consent to the data practices described in this policy.
For students under 13, we:
